Meghalaya: Magisterial enquiry ordered in the Rimpu Bagan, Bernad Marak’s case
As part of an investigation into the raid conducted by Meghalaya Police on July 22 last in Rimpu Bagan, the farm house of Bernard N Marak, near Tura, the district magistrate of West Garo Hills district has ordered a magisterial inquiry. Bernad N Marak, the BJP Vice President who had been absconding since the raid, was apprehended in Uttar Pradesh yesterday. The Tura court on Monday issued a nonbailable arrest warrant for Marak, who was brought to the state today.

Among other legal investigations, it would look into whether Bernard N Marak is the genuine legal owner of the Rimpu Bagan land. Whether the concerned department obtained the requisite approval from the appropriate authorities to run such a facility.
Whether or whether the maps of the buildings created in Rimpu Bagan are legal and have been approved by the appropriate agency. Whether the owner of the premises received a licence for the sale of liquor and the operation of a canteen. Whether permission was obtained from the proper authorities to retain children on the premises since they were reportedly used as child labour.
