Claims of a Telugu YouTuber to have entered Mecca sparks controversy

A controversy has arisen over a Telugu YouTuber’s assertion that he travelled to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, the holiest location for Muslims. Some internet users are demanding that the YouTuber be punished for breaking Saudi regulations that forbid non-Muslims from entering the grand mosque. In a recent live chat, Ravi Prabhu asserted that he had entered Mecca. He even displayed a cellphone shot of himself praying while standing close to the most sacred mosque.

The traveller said in another video clip that he was required to recite several verses from the Quran at the entrance to Mecca before being permitted to enter. The YouTuber’s assertion, though, sparked a debate, with some online users criticising him and even calling for Saudi authorities to intervene. Ravi ceased responding to inquiries regarding his claimed trip to Mecca after this controversy.

According to a netizen, for approaching Mecca outside the law, he could receive the death penalty in Saudi Arabia. Regarding Ravi’s suspected use of a false Muslim certificate to enter Mecca, a Twitter user tagged Saudi authorities and demanded that they take action. He added a video of the traveler’s statements as well.

Ravi claimed to be the first Telugu YouTuber to enter Mecca on his channel Ravi Telugu Traveller on YouTube, which has more than 6 lakh subscribers.
