A Mumbai-based BJP politician has filed a complaint against Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal is accused of singing the national anthem while seated and abruptly stopping after four or five verses, according to a BJP leader in Mumbai. On Wednesday, the Trinamool Congress supremo met NCP chairman Sharad Pawar after meeting Shiv Sena leaders the day before.
The complainant alleged that Banerjee “showed utter disrespect to the national anthem”. “It’s an offense under the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 and @HMOIndia order of 2015,” he tweeted.
