An error on Facebook’s algorithm caused chaos on the platform after users feed were flooded with random fan messages posted to the big celebrity accounts such as Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Kim Kardashian and Shakira. The error is caused across web on both laptop and mobile devices.
After the meltdown of the Social media platform, users started spamming the celebrity accounts with memes . Few have even posted their QR code linked to their Paypal or Cash app account.
Some of the major account on the platform is affected and is creating tensions. Celebrities with hugh followers on their page that includes the pages of Cristiano Ronaldo, which has 152 million followers, Shakira, which has 116 million and Rihanna, which has 101 million are affected due to the sudden algorithm issue.
Meta, Facebook’s parent company, has apologized for the inconvenience and trouble caused to their users and are working toward fixing it.
A spokesperson of the company said: “We’re aware that some people are having trouble with their Facebook Feed. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
The glitch happened by maintenance malfunction that disrupted communication between Facebook’s data centers.
