The first resignation occurred inside the new UK PM Rishi Sunak's cabinet. Gavin Williamson, a senior minister, left the UK cabinet Wednesday night following a significant bullying dispute. He was charged with persistently intimidating his coworkers. Gavin claimed in his letter of resignation that the accusations were an attempt to divert attention from the government's successful initiatives. While accepting his resignation, Rishi Sunak referred to him as a devoted person.

According to media sources, Williamson intimidated a senior civil servant in the Ministry of Defence when he was the defence secretary under the previous prime minister Theresa May and asked them to "slit" their throat. Williamson had already come under fire for a different bullying charge levelled against him by a different Conservative MP.

Williamson's former deputy, Anne Milton, claimed in an interview with Channel 4 News on November 8 that he used the health problems of MPs as "leverage" and that his behaviour while in office was "threat[ing" and "intimidating."
