Frist ‘Made in India’ Dornier aircraft takes off from Dibrugarh; historic moment for northeast
Today is a historic day for northeast India, as Alliance Air’s 17-seater Made-in-India Dornier 228 aircraft flew for the first time on the Dibrugarh-Pasighat route on Tuesday, with Union ministers Jyotiraditya Scindia and Kiren Rijiju on board.
Jyotiraditya Scindia and Kiren Rijiju boarded an aircraft from Assam’s Dibrugarh to Pasighat in neighboring Arunachal Pradesh, accompanied by senior government officials.
The service will be extended to Tezu, Mechuka, Ziro, and Tuting in Arunachal Pradesh, with the Dibrugarh airport serving as the hub.
“A historic day for the North East, as well as for all of India!” commented Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in a tweet. @MoCA GoI has launched the first-ever commercial services by the made-in-India Dornier aircraft, thanks to Sh @PemaKhanduBJP’s proactive assistance.”
“This will link the airstrips of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, as well as other regions, in the near future.” In another tweet, Jyotiraditya Scindia said, “Indeed, a new chapter in India’s “Look East” strategy!” tweets Scindia.

Scindia was overwhelmed by the people of Arunachal Pradesh’s traditional welcome.
