Jawed Habib, a celebrity hairstylist, made headlines on Thursday after a video showing him spitting on a woman’s head while styling her hair went viral. Following a storm of social media criticism and rap from the National Commission of Women (NCW), Habib has given an apology statement via video message, saying that such things are typically done with a “humorous” aim during seminars, but that he was really sorry if anyone was upset.
“Some comments I uttered at my lecture upset a few people,” the well-known hairdresser said in a video statement. “I just want to clarify something… these are professional workshops, in the sense that they are attended by professionals in our field.” We have to make these sessions funny when they grow too long. I’m not sure what to say. If you have been hurt, please accept my heartfelt apologies. Please accept my apologies.”
