The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has projected heavy to extremely heavy rains in numerous portions of five Northeast states in the coming days, making December colder than normal in the region. On December 5 and 6, significant to very heavy rainfall would be seen in Northeast states like Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur, according to Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, DGM of IMD.
“Because of the expected northeastward migration of the remainder of the system during the same period, the northeastern states are also likely to see increased rainfall activity on December 5 and 6, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall,” the meteorologist predicted. Meanwhile, throughout the following 24 hours, a low-pressure region is expected to form over the east-central Andaman Sea, off the coast of Maharashtra. From the above cyclonic circulation to the north Maharashtra coast in the lower levels, a trough at mean sea level runs. According to IMD, a western disturbance can be found as a westerly in the mid and high troposphere.
