Himanta kicks off new infrastructural initiatives at GMCH
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma dedicated major infrastructure projects at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH)

On Tuesday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma dedicated major infrastructure projects at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Speaking at the event, he stated that the new facilities will allow the GMCH serve its various functions, ranging from medical college to hospital, more efficiently. It will also help the government realise its long-term ambitions for GMCH, according to Sarma.
In reference to a new medical college being built in Guwahati, the chief minister stated that the city having two medical colleges will ensure better resource use and less inconvenience for patients. He also stated that the GMCH students' long-standing request for a playground will be addressed on a priority basis. The chief minister also dedicated a 156-bed guest house built with corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. Sarma also inaugurated a state-of-the-art 450-seat capacity college theatre built with partial financial backing from Oil India Limited, a new addition to Hostel number 4, a nurses' quarter, and the Principal's residential quarter on Tuesday.
