According to police in Pakistan’s Punjab province, a man who accused a police constable of blackmailing his wife and compelling her to engage in illicit relations with him chopped his nose, ears, and lips. Constable Qasim Hayat was severely tortured before Muhammad Iftikhar, the primary suspect, and his accomplices severed his nose, ears, and lips on Sunday in Jhang district.
According to a police official, Iftikhar kidnapped Hayat on his way home and took him to a remote location where they tortured him severely before severing his body parts with a sharp object. Iftikhar suspected Hayat of having relations with his wife. He did this with the help of 12 other people. The constable was taken emergency care and is currently listed in serious condition at the district headquarters hospital in Jhang.
According to Pakistan Penal Code sections 354 (assault on a woman), 384 (extortion), and 292 (pornography), Iftikhar had a case filed against constable Hayat last month (PPC).
With threats to murder her son, Iftikhar alleged that Hayat had coerced his wife into engaging in illicit activities with him. Iftikhar asserted that when his wife first met Hayat, he coerced her into having sex with him, recorded the act on camera, and later began blackmailing her. To find Iftikhar and his cronies, the police claimed to be conducting investigations.
