India has received really unfortunate and sad news. On Tuesday, an Indian student was killed in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, the country’s second-largest city, which is being shelled by Russian forces. The student is said to be from Karnataka India.
On Tuesday, a tremendous explosion occurred in central Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city, just in front of the city’s administration building, resulting in a massive fireball that looked to engulf numerous cars going through an area known as Freedom Square .
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with the father of Indian student Naveen Shekarappa Gyanagoudar, who was killed in shelling in Ukraine during the conflict. He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family, noting that accepting this tragic reality would be unbearable.
The student’s family has been contacted by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). “We confirm with great sadness that an Indian student was killed in shelling in Kharkiv this morning.” His family has been contacted by the Ministry. Arindam Bagchi, a spokesperson for the MEA, expressed his sympathy to the family.
Bagchi went on to say: “The Foreign Secretary is meeting with Russian and Ukrainian ambassadors to reinforce our demand for immediate safe passage for Indian nationals trapped in Kharkiv and other war zones. Our ambassadors in Russia and Ukraine are also taking similar measures.”
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced those Indians stranded in Ukraine as a result of Russia’s military incursion would be evacuated by the Indian Air Force (IAF). On Tuesday, the Indian Air Force will begin deploying additional C-17 aircraft as part of Operation Ganga.
Charles Michel, the President of European Council, has spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed grief over the the loss of life of an Indian student in Ukraine’s Kharkiv today.
