Incredible: 90 yr old grandma wakes at 4.30 am everyday to cook and feed stray dogs
It is not uncommon for some people to love and care for dogs purely out of selflessness and compassion. It’s not the first story we’ve heard about people’s love for animals, but this one stands out for more than one reason.
Kanak, who is 90 years old, starts her day by cooking for more than 120 stray dogs. Not only does she love to cook food, but she also loves to experiment with recipes. Until her granddaughter brought a puppy home, Kanak was not much of a dog lover. Her heart changed drastically in just a few days after she fell in love with the dog.
It wasn’t until Kanak’s granddaughter brought home a puppy that she became a dog lover. After a profound change of heart, she has been helping and feeding other stray dogs in her area since over two years ago. Humans of Bombay shared a clip showing Kanak cooking early in the morning and feeding dogs near her home. The woman always makes sure her friends are fed even though she needs a walker to get around.
“A few years back, my granddaughter, Sana, got Coco, a puppy at our house. And honestly, I never liked dogs; bas nahi pasand the (I just didn’t like them). And I genuinely thought nothing could change my mind. But Coco changed everything. Aur aisa kuch nahi kara tha ussne (He didn’t do anything special) he’d just eat, play, or laze around. But even when he did such simple things, he looked very cute. I couldn’t believe myself when I first said, ‘Kitna pyaara lag raha hai (He looks so cute),’ while looking at him. Mera toh dil aa gaya tha Coco pe (I had had fallen in love with Coco)!” Kanak was quoted as saying by Humans of Bombay.
“Then I’d just love feeding him and messing around with him. He became such an important part of my life throughout the years that my days began and finished with him! He was right alongside me when I cut the cake on my 90th birthday. But, you know, my affection for Coco didn’t stop there; I began to like all dogs! “She said.
Kanak went on to say that her granddaughter wanted to build a dog shelter in their neighbourhood about two years ago. This is because she was greatly affected when a local dog died.
Eventually, she did open a stray dog shelter near her home. Kanak, on the other hand, is unable to go to the shelter due to her age. However, she contributes to the task by cooking meals for the pets beginning at 4:30 a.m. Kanak has continued to cook food for stray dogs at her granddaughter’s shelter despite sustaining a fracture in 2021..
