Leader's of Hindu Mahasabha arrested during bid to recite Hanuman Chalisa in Mathura Shahi Masjid Idgah

As a result of appeals made by the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) for Hanuman Chalisa to be recited at the actual birthplace of Lord Krishna, at least 22 persons were held in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday under heightened security. According to the ABHM, Shahi Eidgah Mosque is within Sri Krishna Janambhoomi, is where Lord Krishna actually was born.

When some campaigners were halted by police, they were allegedly headed for Sri Krishna Janambhoomi. Prior to this, the group had stated that it would recite the Hanuman Chalisa at the location on Tuesday at noon for a whole hour. Since the group's members celebrate "Sanatan Samarpan Diwas" on December 6, they asserted that it was an auspicious time for the recital. The Babri Mosque was destroyed in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992.

When Saurabh Sharma, the district manager of ABHM in Agra, tried to advance toward the Sri Krishna Janambhoomi to perform Jalabhishek (a rite in which water is presented to deities), Mathura Police stopped him.

People with knowledge of the situation claimed that as vehicles were only permitted to the disputed site after inspection, large gatherings were also prohibited and Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CRPC) was effectively implemented.
The Shahi Eidgah Mosque is located in the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi compound, the situation is under control, according to Superintendent of Police Mathura Martand P Singh.

As a result of the organization's request that Hanuman Chalisa be recited at the disputed location, 22 people were ultimately held from various locations throughout the Mathura district, the police officer pointed out. The Sri Krishna Janambhoomi complex's neighboring marketplaces were open as usual, the police using drones.
