Mask wearing is mandatory in these states: India reported 2,500 fresh Covid cases on Sunday

India has recently experienced an uptick in Covid cases. 2,500 cases were recorded on Sunday, breaking the record for the second straight day. Covid rules are being re-evaluated amid safety concerns. This is a list of the states where you must wear a mask, and how much you will get fined if you don’t.

Following a rise in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh ordered its NCR districts to reimpose the mask mandate. Wearing masks has been made compulsory again in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Baghpat as well as the capital city of Lucknow. The UP government removed the mask mandate on April 1.

The Delhi government reimposed the mask mandate on Wednesday, in response to increased infection rates. Authorities will be fining users who don’t use a mask – with penalties increasing as high as ₹500.

The Haryana Health Minister has mandated that people wear masks to prevent the spread of Covid. This is because the rates in Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, and Jhajjar have increased significantly.

Punjab has issued a new order to citizens: wear masks in public, especially when you’re in public. They do this to help combat the spread of Covid in the state.

Earlier this month, Telangana brought the rule of compulsory masks back. The state’s decision was to bring the enforcement of masks voluntary before cases started rising again and the rule must be enforced. If found without a mask, citizens must pay ₹1000 as a fine.

If you are found without a mask in Andhra Pradesh, you can be fined up to 100 rupees.

In Tamil Nadu, those without a mask will incur a fine of 500 rupees.
