On the North Eastern Hills University (NEHU) Tura campus, 27 students have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus. A total of 27 students living at the Norombi Girls’ Hostel, Arbella Girls’ Hostel, Nokrek Boys’ Hostel, Sampalgre Girls’ Hostel, and Working Women’s Hostel have tested positive for the virus, according to the Post Graduate Students’ Union (PGSU) in Tura union’s letter to the official. Some of these students have yet to receive medications, masks, and other essentials like quarantine facilities.
The North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Tura Campus’s campus administrator has received a letter from the Post Graduate Students’ Union (PGSU) in Tura pleading with him to provide care for the students who tested positive for COVID-19 and to take the necessary steps to stop the virus from infecting other university students.
In order to stop the virus from spreading further, the union proposed that accommodations be made for the afflicted students at the NEHU Tura Guest House. The union claimed that the hostellers currently had trouble sharing beds, restrooms, and toilets.
Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, vice chancellor of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), tested positive for Covid-19 last week while he was in Shillong and was receiving treatment there.
