Meghalaya: Another assault against a non-tribal resident of Laban Shillong reported
Since the past few weeks, there have been numerous instances of assaults in the city of Shillong. Another assault on a non-tribal person was recorded on Friday in one of the busiest areas of the city. Nearly 20 unidentified criminals attacked a person in broad daylight on Friday.
The incident, according to the police, took place at around 4 p.m. near SBI Last bus stop on the road leading to Batti Bazar, Laban. Anupam Dey was assaulted by about 20 boys who arrived in cars, motorcycles, and scooters, according to the police, who also said the victim was sent for medical attention after receiving first aid but was later released.
A group of labourers was allegedly attacked earlier last month in Shillong near Dinam Hall by unidentified individuals.
They were attacked at that time with sticks and bamboo by a group of 20–25 boys.
Another instance was when a group of 30 bikers attacked two young men named Rejaz M. Sydeek and Sarath S. Thambi from Central University in Karnataka on Friday in the Jaiaw Pdeng neighbourhood of Shillong. At 4:30 pm in the evening, the assault happened. The two young people from Kerala have been interning with Impulse NGO in Shillong for almost a month.
