Kolkata Professor Forced To Quit, Pay 99 crore for posting swimsuit picture on Instagram
In a startling situation, a Kolkata St Xavier University professor was forced to resign after a student’s father complained to the university over her swimsuit photos on Instagram. According to accounts, the student’s father discovered his son looking at the photo and immediately reported it to the institution. In response, the university asked that the professor pay Rs 99 crore for harming the institution’s reputation.
According to NDTV, the professor’s father wrote a letter to the university about the professor’s Instagram photos. “Recently, I was outraged to find my son looking at some images of professor…where she has posed in a sexually explicit manner, causing purposeful public exposure,” he told the institution.
He went on to say, “Looking at a teacher in her undergarments uploading images to social media is completely embarrassing for me as a father, because I have attempted to protect my son from this kind of extreme obscenity and exploitation of the female form… It is filthy, vulgar, and impolite for an 18-year-old student to see his professor dressed scantily and exposing her body on a public platform.”
On October 24, 2021, a day before stepping down, the professor claimed to have submitted a police report alleging that her private Instagram account had been hacked, resulting in the disclosure of her photographs. According to her, the complaint was not transformed into a FIR. However, after writing to the Kolkata Police Commissioner, a FIR was filed against unknown individuals.
The professor then submitted a legal notice to the institution, requesting a copy of the complaint from the guardian as well as additional papers pertaining to the October meeting in the first week of March.
