Under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the District Magistrate of West Garo Hills, Tura, has issued an order prohibiting obstructing the operation of government offices, establishing night road blockades, and carrying or concealing lathis, sticks, stones, firearms, or any other type of lethal weapon on one’s person, reports from ST.
The order was issued in light of intelligence that suggested some groups might plan to picket all Garo Hills MePDCL offices and barricade roads at night for six days starting on August 29, 2022, and ending on September 3, 2022.
