On Wednesday, a speeding car is reported to have struck and killed an army commander stationed in Shillong. When leaving his office at around 5 o'clock in the afternoon, the colonel was reportedly struck by a car. After being treated at the hospital, he later passed away from his wounds.
Colonel Ramesh Rathore is the name of the deceased Army officer. According to police, a pick-up truck struck 49 year old Colonel Ramesh Singh Rathore while he was strolling along Boucher Road. Colonel Rathore was assigned to the 101 Area in Upper Shillong.

In the Churu district of Rajasthan, in Ghanau Sadulpur hamlet, the final rites will be performed on Friday. Col. Ramesh Rathore passed away, and the Defence PRO in Guwahati expressed their condolences while revealing that his son had just joined the NDA.
"Body being taken to Jaipur on 17 Nov for last rites at Ghanau Sadulpur, dist Churu, native village on 18 Nov. Second Generation offr. His son has just joined NDA. May God bless his soul and give strength to the family to bear this irreplaceable loss," it said.
