Meghalaya to soon introduce 100 mini-busses for students to ease traffic congestion

In today’s society, traffic congestion has become one of the most concerning issues. It also makes it difficult for students to get to school on time, and many tiny children have had to leave their homes very early to make it to school on time.

Meanwhile, the Meghalaya Education Department will begin implementing a school bus initiative in the state soon to help alleviate traffic congestion. The state government will soon implement a pool-school bus system, in which students from across  the state  would be transported to their respective schools on common  busses to ensure that they arrive on time at their respective campuses.

Traffic will be made easier by the school buses. The initiative will see the debut of a fleet of about 100 minibuses.

This is being done for the sake of the kids, according to Meghalaya Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, and will be implemented in due time. “The goal is to ensure that traffic congestion in Shillong is minimised,” the Minister said.

“We have enough resources available for 100 buses.” He went on to say that the project is for children from both public and private schools.

“The nitty-gritty of the project is being worked out, and it will be implemented in due course,” the minister remarked to reporters. “The process is on,” the Education Minister stated, adding that the department is having obstacles in implementing the project. “We will see after working on all the challenges and things we will do accordingly.”

“We haven’t decided on the number of schools that will join, but the project is on.” There is no word on how many schools from Shillong and Tura will be participating. He went on to say that the plan is in the best interests of the state’s student community.
