At midnight today, a small earthquake with a Richter magnitude of 4.0 shook the Champhai border district of Mizoram. The earthquake struck 50 kilometres east of the Champhai district. The National Centers for Science (NCS) tweeted, “Earthquake of Magnitude:4.0, Occurred on 07-09-2022, 00:50:55 IST, Lat: 23.41 & Long: 93.82, Depth: 13 Km, Location: 50km E of Champhai, Mizoram, India.”
Although there have not yet been any fatalities, stress has spread throughout the region as a result of the earthquake’s minor aftershocks.
