Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, paid his homage to Indian Air Force (IAF) officer Group Captain Varun Singh at the Bairagarh cremation in Bhopal on Friday.
The CM stated that the nation would never forget the officer’s valour. Chouhan stated that he would live on in the memories of the state and his countrymen forever.
General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat, and 11 armed forces men were killed in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu on December 8. Group Captain Singh was the lone survivor.
While paying respect to her son, his mother, Uma Singh, kept her composure and stated her daughter-in-law Geetanjali Singh, the late IAF officer’s wife, was a strong woman.
Singh was being treated at Wellington’s Military Hospital before being transferred to Bengaluru’s Air Force Command Hospital, where he died on Wednesday. Group Captain Varun Singh fought to the death for 8 days after being critically injured in the chopper crash. Despite their best efforts, the medics were unable to save him, and Group Captain Varun Singh died. Simultaneously, the Madhya Pradesh government issued a Rs 1 crore relief package for his family. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, made the announcement on Thursday.
