Elon Musk announced on Twitter that he was considering running for CEO and promised to "abide" by the outcome. Later, after the outcome was known, he declared that he would step down as CEO of Twitter once he had found a suitable successor.
The "most famous YouTuber in the world," Jimmy "MrBeast" Donaldson, reportedly asked Elon Musk on Thursday if he could take over as Twitter's CEO days after the Tesla and SpaceX CEO was reportedly asked to resign as the leader of the microblogging platform. Up to 10 million, or 57% of voters, supported Musk dethroning the CEO of the business he took over only eight weeks earlier. Musk promised to "abide" by the results when he started the Twitter poll. Once the decision was made, he said that he would step down as Twitter's CEO once he found a suitable successor. "As soon as I find someone naive enough to accept the position of CEO, I will step down! He tweeted earlier this week, "After that, I'll just run the software & servers teams (sic)."
Can I be the new Twitter CEO?, the 24-year-old YouTuber asked the second-richest billionaire in the world. Musk responded, "It's not out of the question."
He also said that moving forward, he would seek the Tweeple's approval for all significant policy changes.
Mass layoffs, the reemergence of blocked accounts, and the suspension of journalists who have been critical of Musk have all contributed to disarray and conflicts inside Musk's leadership. The incoming CEO of Twitter will have to work in the shadow of the unstable billionaire who believes his leadership saved the social media network from certain failure even while the present CEO searches for a replacement. Following the poll results, Musk tweeted, "The difficulty is not finding a CEO, the question is finding a CEO who can keep Twitter alive.
