Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced on Saturday that he will manufacture "alternative" smartphones to compete with Apple and Android devices, in response to Apple and Google app store teams reviewing Twitter under him. Twitter is currently being scrutinised by both the Apple and Google app stores, and Musk is concerned that the microblogging platform may be deleted. It all began when one user tweeted, "If Apple and Google remove Twitter from their app stores, @elonmusk should build his own phone. Half of the country would gladly abandon the biassed, snooping iPhone and Android. If he can construct rockets to Mars, surely he can make a foolish little smartphone, right?"

"I certainly hope it does not come to that," Musk responded, "but, yeah, if there is no other choice, I will build an alternate phone." Several users responded to Musk's article with their comments. "I guarantee he'll revolutionise smartphones," one person stated, while another said, "I feel like this concept is already in the works." According to Yoel Roth, who left Twitter as Head of Trust and Safety last week, as Musk promotes a lack of legitimacy through impetuous modifications and tweet-length announcements concerning platform regulations, Twitter is now under close examination by both the Apple and Google app stores.

Roth stated in a New York Times story that "Twitter will have to weigh its new owner's aims against the practical reality of life on Apple and Google's internet, no easy feat for the staff who have chosen to remain." "And the calls from the app review teams had already begun when I left the company," Roth wrote. Despite pledges from the site that it has curbed hate activity, the number of racist slurs on Twitter has climbed since Musk purchased the powerful platform. "The moderating influences of advertisers, regulators, and, most importantly, app stores may be welcome for those of us wanting to avoid an increase in the volume of unsafe speech online," Roth said.
