NATO states can send fighter jets to Ukraine, according to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and the US will aid those countries in replacing the aircraft they might lose as a result. Blinken is questioned on Poland’s ability to send fighter jets to Ukraine as a NATO member.

President Joe Biden’s top diplomat tells CBS’s “Face the Nation” that “that gets a green light,” and that “we’re talking with our Polish allies right now about what we might be able to do to backfill their needs if they chose to give these fighter jets to Ukraine.”

The Biden administration is working on capabilities to backfill Poland if it decides to transfer planes to Ukraine, according to a White House official. However, there are other problems that emerge from such a move, including how the planes would be delivered from Poland to Ukraine.

However, earlier NATO foreign ministers rejected any idea of ground or air intervention against Russian soldiers in Ukraine on Friday, according to the alliance’s secretary general.
