Commonwealth Games 2022: Sagar Confirms The 6th Medal For India In Boxing

A 22-year-old Sagar Ahlawat from Haryana confirms the 6th medal for India in Boxing at Commonwealth Games 2022, Birmingham on Day 7, Thursday. Sagar beat Seychelles’ Keddy Evans Agnes, by unanimous decision (5-0) to enter the semifinals of Men’s +92kg super heavyweight boxing.

Sagar will be joining Jasmine and Amit Panghal. Jasmine beat New Zealand’s Troy Garton by a 4-1 split verdict in the women’s lightweight (60kg) quarter-final, while Panghal too won his flyweight (48-51 kg) quarter-final against Scotland’s Lennon Mulligan to assure two more medals for India.

The Indian boxing team, Nikhat Zareen (50kg), Nitu Ganghas (48kg) and Mohd Hussamudin (57kg) have also reached the semifinal stage to be assured of medals in their respective categories.
