WhatsApp is an instant messaging service that not only records our conversations but also provides useful information. Our photo appears as the display picture, and the last seen field tells when the app was last used. Sometimes people feel awkward disclosing such important facts to others. We may occasionally need to ban a phone number or remove a contact belonging to someone we don’t want to reveal our “Last Seen” status to. But a feature WhatsApp announced a few days ago has fixed the issue.
Our display image and “Last Seen” status can now be hidden from anyone. The next actions are shown below.
STEP 1: Open WhatsApp on your Android or iPhone.
STEP 2: Go to Settings>Account>Privacy> Profile photo.
STEP 3: Select the option ‘My contacts except’ and pick those contacts with whom you want to hide your display picture.
STEP 4: Similarly, for ‘Last Seen’ you can select the option ‘My Contacts Except’.
Similar to this, WhatsApp also has a feature that enables users to mute certain people’ chat messages. We only need to choose the conversation and the mute option.
There have recently been reports that WhatsApp would include a feature that will enable users to conceal their online status from other users. Beta testers cannot presently use the feature because it is still being developed. Customers will have more options with this functionality to avoid users they don’t want to interact with.
