NPP being the second largest party in Manipur will not be included in forming Government
After emerging as the single-largest party in Manipur, the BJP seemed poised to become the government. It passed the halfway point in the 60-member Assembly, capturing 32 seats.
Following the BJP’s victory in Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced on Friday that the party will not form a coalition with the National People’s Party (NPP).
“In Manipur, the BJP enjoys a solid majority (32 seats).” We will not form a coalition with the NPP. NPF, as well as certain independent candidates, have showed interest in supporting us. “It will be decided in consultation with central leaders,” Singh added.
However, its coalition partner, the National People’s Party (NPP), may not be included in the new government, but the Naga People’s Front (NPF), which is located in Nagaland, may be maintained, according to chief minister N Biren Singh.
The Janata Dal (United), which won six seats in the state for the first time in over 20 years, is expected to join the BJP-led administration. Biren Singh remarked after winning his home constituency of Heingang in East Imphal district, “We expected we’d be able to get the majority on our own. For their guidance and support, I am grateful to the people and our national leaders, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and party President JP Nadda.”
In Manipur, the party won 32 out of 60 seats. The NPP won seven seats becoming the second largest party, while the Congress won five. The Janata Dal (United) received six seats, the Naga People’s Front five, and the Kuki People’s Alliance two. Three seats were won by independents.
