Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Friday, addressed students at a ceremony in Silchar to commemorate Assam University’s 29th foundation day.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to improve our country, but at the end of the day, he is an individual.” In his lecture to students at Assam University in Silchar on Friday, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated, “One Modi cannot change the entire nation, and we need to look for other icons like him to become the world’s best country.”
Himanta Biswa Sarma, addressing students at a ceremony stated, harshly criticized India’s post-independence education policy, claiming it was affected by Western culture and made pupils selfish.
“We are the world’s oldest civilisation… Our country, however, adopted policies influenced by western culture after independence. Our civilization, like the West, has lost its essence, and after completing education, selfless youth have become selfish persons.”
Himanta Biswa Sarma also encouraged students to become entrepreneurs and experiment with new ideas in order to boost Assam’s total productivity.
“Assam is reliant on other states for its fundamental needs.” Assam cannot become a powerful state like Gujarat or Rajasthan until we export more than we consume. “Rather than hunting for a job after graduation, students should adopt the mindset of being an employer,” he stated.
Sarma announced a 25-crore grant for the institution and requested that the institute produce a list of requirements and bring it to him as soon as possible.
Before travelling to Assam University, Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Silchar Medical College and Hospitals (SMCH) with the assistance of Silchar MP and other ministers. Sarma dedicated a cathlab in the hospital’s cardiology department.
