One more student held in Bulli Bai App case; Cyber Crime

In the ‘Bulli Bai’ app case, Mumbai Police have arrested yet another student. Mayank Agarwal has been named as the suspect. Since Tuesday, three people have been charged in this case. All three defendants are students.

This is the second arrest in Uttarakhand, and the third in connection with the continuing investigation into the ‘Bulli Bai’ app, which was used to “auction” photographs of Muslim women.

Shweta Singh (19), the accused mastermind from Uttarakhand, and engineering student Vishal Kumar Jha (21) from Bengaluru had previously been arrested in connection with the case by the Mumbai police cyber cell.

Following allegations that doctored images of hundreds of Muslim women were put for auction on the app ‘Bulli Bai,’ based on the open-source software platform GitHub, the Mumbai police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified persons.

Politicians, citizens, and women’s rights organizations urged harsh punishment for the app’s creators.
