After the Taliban take over Afghanistan and capturing the Presidential palace on August 15th, thousands of Afghans were trying to flee the country to neighboring countries.
Last week there was a surge at the Spin Boldak-Chaman land border crossing Pakistan, which leads to the deadly stampede killing one person after the unprecedented number of people started fleeing from war-torn Afghanistan to Pakistan, according to the CNN report.
A 64-year-old man from Afghanistan named Safi Ullah died in the incident as confirmed by his son Shahid Ullah to the CNN reporter. “I and my father were trying to cross the border with the rest of our family, I lost my father in the stampede, later we found him dead,” Ullah spoke to the CNN reporters.
On Thursday, Pakistan temporarily closed its border due to the fleeing of the unwanted Afghan refugees from Taliban terror. Pakistan is not allowing the Aghan refugees to enter their territory which led to thousands of Afghans being stranded in the Spin Boldak border.
Most of the families from the western and eastern provinces of Afghanistan want to leave Afghanistan but Pakistan is not allowing them to enter their country.
According to reports from Pajhwok Afghan News, only people having Pakistani ID or a Kandhar ID are allowed to enter.
However, speaking to Pajhwok Afghan News some people who are stranded for weeks on the Pakistan border exclaimed their pain as some said they aren’t able to buy food for their children as they ran out of money, some expressed their agony as they are forced to spend the nights in the open fields near the border. Many are accompanied with elderly and sick people.
Those who can afford are staying in the hotels days after days in the hope to leave the country and enter Pakistan.
