A Pakistani national is being apprehended in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district after reportedly crossing into India to kill former BJP spokesman Nupur Sharma for her remarks about Prophet Muhammad.
On the 16th of July, around 11 p.m., the man was apprehended near the Hindumalkot border checkpoint. “We turned him over to local authorities for further investigation.” He appeared before a magistrate and was sentenced to eight days in police prison. “We have alerted the relevant intelligence agencies about him,” a top BSF official told ANI.
According to news outlet ANI, the individual is reportedly being interrogated by a joint team of Intelligence Bureau (IB), Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), and military intelligence. According to the BSF, the Pakistani national, Rizwan Ashraf, crossed the border on July 16 and was captured after being noticed wandering around near the fencing.
The patrol team became suspicious and confronted him. He, however, did not respond adequately. After a thorough check, two knives, one 11-inch long, were discovered on him. Other objects discovered were religious texts, maps, clothing, and food.
Interrogation was conducted by a collaborative team of intelligence services, including the Intelligence Bureau (IB), the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), and the Military Intelligence Agency.
During questioning, the accused confirmed that he lived in Mandi Bahauddin in northern Pakistan. He told officials that he crossed the border with the goal of murdering suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma for making derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad. Before carrying out the conspiracy, he was on his way to Ajmer Dargah.
