Parag Agrawal, the new CEO of Twitter Inc., is the S&P 500’s youngest CEO. Agrawal, who was named to succeed Twitter founder and CEO Jack Dorsey on Monday, is 37 years old, the same age as Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta Platform Inc.
Twitter wouldn’t provide Agrawal’s date of birth due to security concerns, but he was born after Zuckerberg on May 14, 1984. Dorsey, who was 45 at the time, was one of the dozen youngest CEOs in the Fortune 500.

Mr. Agrawal, who earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and a doctorate from Stanford University in California, joined Twitter in 2011 and ascended through the ranks to become its CTO by 2017.
According to data provided by Bloomberg, Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., is the oldest CEO in the S&P 500, aged 91. According to the data, the average age of a CEO among the 500 largest corporations was around 58 years. However, the overall trend in CEO age continues to be against youth. Executive recruiter Spencer Stuart’s data on S&P 500 businesses over the last two decades reveals a tiny but continuous increase in the CEO’s age.
In 2011, Agrawal became a member of the social media platform Twitter. Dorsey will remain on Twitter’s board of directors until the end of his tenure in 2022, according to a statement released on Monday. Agrawal will also be a statistical outlier on the board of directors. According to Spencer Stuart, the average age of S&P 500 directors is 63.
