PM and Other Dignitaries Greeted Meghalaya, Manipur, and Tripura on Statehood Day
On the occasion of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura’s Statehood Day on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other top dignitaries sent greetings to the people of the three states. With the passing of the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971 on this day 50 years ago, the three states were constituted.
PM Modi tweeted his congratulations on the occasion, saying, “On the occasion of their statehood days, greetings to the people of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura. These states contribute significantly to India’s development. I’m hoping for continued growth for them.”

President Ram Nath Kovind also took to Twitter to say, “On the occasion of Statehood Day, greetings to the people of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura. These states, rich in natural resources, exhibit the northeast’s lively culture and unique traditions. My fondest wishes for a happy and prosperous future to the people of these states.”
On Statehood Day, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma greeted citizens from all three states. he remarked, “Heartiest greetings to the people of the magnificent State on 50th Statehood Day.”
