Police seized heroin worth Rs 75 lakh from bikers possession in Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya

On Tuesday night, police in Ri-Bhoi confiscated heroin worth Rs 75 lakh from the possession of a bike-riding duo as part of their continuing drug campaign.

According to police, a checkpoint was put up near Byrnihat after they received information that two people were suspected of trafficking illegal material.

Following this, a bike (ML05R4704) was intercepted, and Ri-Bhoi police discovered 10 packets of heroin totalling 120 grammes during a further check.

The rider, Shanborlang Khongwir, and the pillion rider, Bandapkupar Mawlong, were detained when the illicit materials and bike were seized worth Rs 3.2 lakhs and 2 smart phones.

However, investigation is underway to nab the other members involved in the racket.
