Protest rally for justice at Nongpoh town over murder of a 19 yr old girl by her partner
The murder of a 19-year-old lady by her live-in partner, who has been identified as Dil Bahadur Thapa of Sarkang village, happened in broad daylight on a road at Pahamsyiem village, Ri-bhoi district, Meghalaya, on Monday at around 10 a.m., as the victim was en-route to work.
The murderer allegedly stabbed in the stomach after the accused sliced her neck.
Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF), Ri-Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF), Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), and Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) leaders formed a joint action committee on Tuesday in an effort to protest the young girl’s gruesome murder and demand justice from the appropriate authorities.
On September 30, starting at 2:00 p.m., these pressure groups and locals held a public rally to demand justice for the victim. The candlelight vigil held after the rally, which began from Iewmawlong and ended at the Nongpoh Town Shopping Complex, to show support for the victims’ families.
