Ramiz Raja's Statement Received A Harsh Response From Sports Minister Anurag Thakur

Ramiz Raja, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), responded forcefully to Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI and the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), last month when he said that Team India players would not be permitted to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup the following year and that he wanted the location changed to the United Arab Emirates. Ramiz clarified his position that Pakistan won't visit India for the ODI World Cup in 2023 if India doesn't come for the Asia Cup, despite PCB's response to the statement last month. Before Anurag Thakur, India's Union Sports Minister, responded harshly, the remarks caused quite a stir.

Who will watch the World Cup if Pakistan doesn't compete in it in India the next year, Ramiz questioned? We are very clear about our position: If the Indian team comes here, we'll compete in the World Cup. They can play the World Cup without us if they don't show up. We will move quickly and forcefully. Our crew is performing well. I've always argued that we need to boost Pakistan cricket's economy, and we can only do so if we play well. We defeated India in the T20 World Cup in 2021. In the T20 Asia Cup, we defeated India. The Pakistan cricket team twice defeated a team from a country with a $1 billion economy in a single year.

When questioned about Ramiz's remark, Thakur issued a strong statement declaring that no nation can escape India because they are now a prominent force in international sports.

Wait for the proper moment. No nation can ignore India since it is a huge force in sports, he said ANI.

Ramiz's comment has not yet been addressed by the BCCI, and the ACC has not yet met to discuss Jay Shah's remarks regarding the venue change.
