Telangana: Schools, colleges to remain close for 3 days; officials advised to be on high alert
Due to the persistent heavy rain that is lashing the state, the Telangana government has declared a three-day holiday for all schools, colleges, and educational institutions from July 11 to 13. The choice was made at a high-level meeting that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao called on Sunday afternoon to examine the state’s position and the steps his administration was taking to guard against any casualties and property damage.
Efforts have been made to ensure that all necessary measures are taken in a timely manner by the authorities.
In addition, the Chief Secretary held a video conference meeting with district collectors to discuss the situation in their respective districts. In the low-lying areas, authorities have been asked to be on high alert and shift people to special camps if necessary.
In Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, and Peddapalle, extremely heavy rainfall was recorded.
Rain also lashed Adilabad, Jagityal, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Nirmal, and Nizamabad districts.
Over the past three days, Telangana has experienced significant rains. In the state’s Mahbubnagar on Friday, July 8, a school bus carrying 30 pupils was partially submerged in a flooded street. The neighbourhood people saved the students from the bus.
