Early on Saturday morning, a charter aeroplane carrying Shah Rukh Khan and five members of his team was detained at the General Aviation (GA) Terminal or private terminal of Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. They were halted by the Customs department's Air Intelligence Unit after certain dutiable items were found in their luggage. An apple iWatch worth about Rs. 75,000, six additional empty cases of high-end watches, and the actor's luggage were discovered, according to a senior customer officer. According to the officer, the total cost of the dutiable goods was Rs. 17.86 lakhs. Ravi Shankar Singh, Shah Rukh's representative and bodyguard, were asked to travel to the Mumbai airport's T2 terminal to pay a customs duty.

He made a payment of Rs. 6.8 lakh, or 38.5 percent of the item's value. The senior customs official clarified that it was a duty rather than a fine. The actor and his team members were given permission to leave in the interim.

The officer continued, "There is no option available for declaring dutiable goods because there is no red channel or green channel at the private terminal of Mumbai airport." Due to the difficulty in determining whether the actor or his team intended to evade paying taxes, the customs department decided against imposing a fine. Shah Rukh received a prize on Friday while attending the 41st Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) 2022 at Expo Centre in the United Arab Emirates. He was given the Global Icon of Cinema and Cultural Narrative award (UAE). The Sharjah Book Authority's official Twitter account posted a video on how the Bollywood star "inspired the audience" with his speech. Shah Rukh was greeted by yelling fans as he arrived at the event. The caption stated, "He spoke about how the world and occasions like the SIBF are the pillars on which bridges connecting the cultures of the world will be built. Soon, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham will be starring alongside Shah Rukh in Pathaan. January 2023 will see the release of the action movie. Along with Pathaan, the actor also has the upcoming Rajkumar Hirani films Dunki, starring Taapsee Pannu, and Jawan, starring Nayanthara.
