The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has detained Aryan Khan, 23, the son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, for 17 days in connection with a drugs bust on a cruise ship. He is currently being held at Mumbai’s Arthur Road Central Jail, and his and the other accused’s bail applications will be heard in court on Wednesday.
Aryan was recently reported subjected to a ‘counselling session’ in the jail with the NCB teams. According to unverifiable reports ascribed to unnamed NCB sources, Aryan was allegedly “full of regret and guilt” for his recent acts that led to his arrest and detention for the past 17 days. The number 956 has been assigned to Aryan as a Qaidi (prisoner).
A money order for Rs 4,500 was received by Arthur Road Jail authorities on October 11 from Aryan’s relatives. This money order was for the expenses of his canteen. According to sources, he is being housed in a special barrack and his security has been strengthened.
NCB is said to have advised Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan on the dangers of drug use and enlisted the cooperation of religious leaders to assist other young people arrested for use. According to a top NCB officer, Aryan has committed to take responsibility for uplifting the poor residents of Bandra and the surrounding areas, especially cancer sufferers.
Meanwhile, a Shiv Sena leader has petitioned the Supreme Court to take suo moto cognizance of Aryan Khan’s fundamental rights, who has been charged under the NDPS Act by the NCB, Zonal Office, Mumbai. Ram Kadam, a Maharashtra BJP leader, responded by questioning why the Maharashtra government is assisting the “drug mafia.”
Following the arrest of his son Aryan by the NCB and placement in Arthur Road Jail, Shah Rukh Khan has received a lot of support from his followers. On October 20, Aryan’s bail will be re-heard.
