Astronomers Have Discovered A New Planet Similar To Earth With Deep Oceans
An earth like planet has been discovered by astronomers with deep oceans which is nearly 100 light years away from us. The planet, TOI-1452, orbits around two stars unlike earth, which goes around one star. The planet is roughly 5 times bigger than our plant.
A team of researchers led by the University of Montreal revealed the discovery of the planet. The ocean makes up 30% of the total mass of the planet hence, its density could be consistent. The 70% of water in earth makes 1% of its mass.
“That proportion is comparable to watery moons in our solar system Jupiter’s Ganymede and Callisto, or Saturn’s Titan and Enceladus believed to hide deep oceans under shells of ice,” Nasa said in a statement. The planet revolves around a star for 11 day which means a year has 11 days in the newly discovered planet. Meanwhile, the other star is very faraway and it takes about 1,400 years to complete one circle.
NASA said that the stars of the planet is coller than our Sun and its compartively smaller. The light recieved by the plant is similar to the amount of light received by Venus from our Sun, speculating possibility of liquid water to exist.
“It’s relatively bright star should allow Webb to capture a spectrum of starlight shining through its atmosphere, a kind of fingerprint of atmospheric components. It also appears in a part of the sky, in the constellation Draco, that Webb can observe almost any time of year,” Nasa said.
Astronomers will further study the plant, TOI-1452, with James Webb Telescope.
