The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a petition seeking to postpone the NEET-PG 2022 exam, stating that it could not bring hardship to thousands of students who have been studying for the exams due to the actions of others.
The petition was filed before the Supreme Court after the national government was repeatedly asked to postpone the examination due to a delay in the NEET PG 2021 counseling.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) had requested that the exam be rescheduled from Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
The IMA wrote to Mandaviya that the time between the NEET PG 2022 exam date and the end of 2021 counselling is too short for an aspirant to study and sit for such a “very challenging exam.” The applicants are “confused,” according to the report, which is also impacting their mental health.
The bench pointed out that any delay in the exam would result in fewer resident doctors. It went on to say that the request to postpone NEET-PG 2022 will have a negative impact on patient care and doctors’ careers, and that the requirements of patients come first.
