The way he batted, my number 4 is in trouble: Suryakumar Yadav on Dinesh Karthik’s batting

After India won the three-match T20I series against South Africa, India batter Suryakumar Yadav joked that Dinesh Karthik’s quickfire 46-run knock had jeopardised his number four slot.
South Africa defeated India by 49 runs at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, thanks to Rilee Rossouw’s undefeated century and Dwaine Pretorius’ three-wicket haul. India won the series 2-1, their first T20I series win over South Africa at home, but they have some thinking to do ahead of the T20 World Cup, especially with their best pacer ruled out.

India lost two wickets early in the third and final T20I against South Africa, and Dinesh Karthik was pushed up the order to bat at No. 4 – Suryakumar’s favourite position. The wicketkeeper batsman performed admirably, scoring 46 runs off 21 balls. Suryakumar is the highest-ranked Indian hitter in the current ICC T20 Rankings – 2.

“I had to stand back and form a collaboration with him.” It did not function today. DK needed some game time, and the way he hit, I believe my number 4 is in trouble. “I haven’t given it much thought, but I’m looking forward to it,” Suryakumar Yadav said after the match on Tuesday.

Suryakumar has been in magnificent form over the last month and is India’s most aggressive player as the T20 World Cup approaches. The 32-year-old batsman was named Player of the Series against South Africa after striking two fast half-centuries. Suryakumar further noted that he is not a statistical geek who obsesses over numbers.

“Not really, I didn’t look at the statistics.” But I believe that was the game’s desire. My pals send these stuff (statistics and numbers) over WhatsApp, but I don’t pay attention to them. “It was the same mental process; I just wanted to enjoy,” he added.
