The fourth phase of the Digital Shakti campaign, a national initiative to educate and equip women for the digital world, has been launched by the National Commission for Women (NCW).
NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma spoke at the opening event and emphasised the panel's ongoing work to advance women in all fields.
"This new stage will prove to be a turning point in making sure that women have safe online environments. By teaching them how to utilise technology effectively and to stay secure online, Digital Shakti has helped more women and girls participate in the digital world, she said.
As for making the internet a safer place for women and girls, Sharma stated, "I believe the project will continue to assist towards the bigger objective of eliminating cyber abuse against them."
In June 2018, Digital Shakti was founded to support women across the country in increasing their level of digital literacy, developing resilience, and effectively combating cybercrime.
Through this project, nearly 3 Lakh women in India have learned how to stay safe online, how to report problems and get help, how to protect their personal information, and how to use technology to their advantage.
In March 2021, the program's third phase began, and a resource centre was created as part of the initiative to provide details on all reporting options in the event that a woman is a victim of cybercrime.
