US President Joe Biden remarked on Friday that the Indian press is “far more behaved” than the American press during his first in-person bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Biden hosted Prime Minister Modi in the Oval Office of the White House for the first in-person bilateral encounter since taking office as President of the United States on January 20.
Biden took Modi to the seats in the Oval Office where they were set to sit and hold talks in front of the media shortly after they exchanged greetings.
He said, “I believe they will involve the press. The Indian press is far more professional than the American press. And, with your permission, I believe we should refrain from answering questions because they will not be pertinent “Shortly after the two presidents exchanged greetings, Biden stated. On this, PM Modi said he completely agreed with Biden.
While the two leaders met previously when Biden was the country’s Vice President, this is Biden’s first encounter with Modi since becoming the US’s 46th president in January.
Both Biden and Prime Minister Modi have spoken over the phone and participated in a few virtual summits, including the US president’s Quad in March. On April 26, they had their most recent phone discussion.
