The Gujarat government announced on Sunday that the film ‘The Kashmir Files,’ which has received a huge good response from not only India but the entire world, has been granted tax-free status. Other states have joined Gujarat in exempting this film from paying entertainment taxes, including Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka.
Haryana’s chief minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, was one of the first to declare the film tax-free in order to encourage more young people to see it.
Meanwhile, the film will be tax-free in Goa, according to Pramod Sawant, the former chief minister of Goa and a key member of the BJP.
The Tripura government also decided to make the film tax-free yesterday evening.
The film ‘The Kashmir Files,’ which was released on March 11, 2022, has gained a lot of attention and praise in India. It illustrates the departure of Kashmiri Hindus from the region when Pakistan-backed terrorists began carrying out mass killings.
Everyone in the audience cried after watching the film. The difficulties and sufferings of those who have lived through the most traumatic era of their lives cannot be articulated in words, yet the pain may be felt. This film gave every Indian goosebumps as they saw how the Kashmiri Pandits had suffered but no one did anything to aid them because the rest of the country was unaware of their plight.
The film has been praised by ministers from various states, including India’s Prime Minister.
