This "new mode" for video calls on iPhones has been confirmed by WhatsApp

Picture-in-picture (PiP) mode condenses a video into a small player, enabling users to continue watching it on their smart-phone during using other apps. Because it is a floating window, you may move it across the screen of your device and place it however you like. Early this month, WABetaInfo, a website that beta tests WhatsApp features, discovered the feature for the first time. Some beta testers received the capability via the TestFlight app's WhatsApp beta for the iOS 22.24.0.79 version. The company further claims that the capabilities make use of official iOS APIs, enabling users to choose whether to temporarily hide the video call view.

This "new mode" for video calls on iPhones has been confirmed by WhatsApp

WhatsApp, a network for instant messaging that is owned by Meta, has acknowledged that it is developing a picture-in-picture capability for video calls for iPhones. While on a video call, consumers can use other apps thanks to this mode. The business detailed this year's upgrades to WhatsApp calling in a blog post. With a minimised in-call video screen, Picture in Picture on iOS, which is currently in beta testing and will be released in the new year, users may simply multitask while on a call, according to WhatsApp.
