“Those not willing to vaccinate should stay at home,” says Assam CM
The Assam administration has stated that immunization against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) is not mandatory for residents of the state, but that those who do not choose to receive the vaccine should remain at home.
Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated at a press conference in Guwahati on Monday that those who are not willing to get vaccinated against Covid-19 will not be permitted to visit offices, restaurants, or attend meetings.
“People not willing to get vaccinated can stay back at home. In Assam, if necessary, then the Covid-19 vaccination certificate will have to be shown. We cannot allow anti-public work to happen,” Sarma told reporters.
Meanwhile, the current night curfew has been shifted from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. by the state administration. Assam had a night curfew from 11.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. previously.
Workplaces, corporate establishments, public and private offices have been urged to close early in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Restaurants, cafes, and dhabas can serve diners until 9 p.m. with a 50 percent seating capacity. These places offer takeaway service till 10 p.m.
In Assam, stores providing groceries, fruits and vegetables, animal feed, dairy, and milk booths can stay open till 9 p.m.
