Three foetuses found near pond in Odisha village; investigation ordered

On Friday morning, three dead foetuses were discovered in a village in the Dhenkanal region of Odisha. There were reports that they may have been the victims of sex testing. Subash Chandra Nayak, a sub-inspector at the Dhenkanal Sadar police station, claimed that it was difficult to determine if the foetuses were male or female and that only a post-mortem report could reveal the truth.

We need to determine whether a resident of the village or one of the surrounding hospitals is to blame, added Nayak. Organization for Voluntary Action’s director, Udayendu Mishra, expressed shock over the occurrence.

“It is abhorrent to have a baby nurtured for nine months only to have it slaughtered and put by a pond. With the assistance of unethical doctors, more and more couples are determining the sex of their unborn child. The sex ratio in Odisha has been falling over time for this reason, according to Mishra.
