“Traffic of any route cannot be disturbed for the CM’s Convoy” Says Assam CM
The Assam cabinet resolved on Thursday that traffic on any route cannot be disturbed for the chief minister’s convoy from now on, that it may be paused if required but for no more than two minutes, and that an ambulance will always take precedence over the CM’s carcade.
The cabinet also resolved that the CM’s carcade will be limited to six cars instead of the existing 21 within the Guwahati metropolitan region and to 12 in other areas to reduce public discomfort.
Furthermore, the cabinet resolved to stop bestowing felicitations and presents on the governor, ministers, and senior officials at official functions, but “visiting dignitaries shall be treated with proper politeness.”
On January 15, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chastised Nagaon deputy commissioner for slowing traffic to make place for his convoy on the national route.
When Sarma saw the long line of stuck automobiles on the highway, he got out of his car and began clearing the traffic.
